Clinton Got Run Over by the Trump Train

A Parody – Courtesy Robeson County Republican Party

Sung to the Tune:

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

Merry Christmas!

Clinton got run over by the Trump Train

During the Election of ‘16

You can say there’s no poetic justice

But as for me & voters, we believe

Now the media was breathless

They had tingles up their leg

But pollsters rigged their numbers

It blew up just like a powder keg

When votes returned next morning

The nation had turned red

She had ticked off rural voters

America was great just like he said

Clinton got run over by the Trump Train

During the Election of ‘16

You can say there’s no poetic justice

But as for me & voters, we believe

Now we’re all so proud of Donald

He’s taking his win so well

Cutting deals with Boeing

Tweeting America it will be just so swell

It’s now Christmas without Clinton

Her supporters dressed in black

Illegal immigrant voters wonder

Will Trump let them stay

Or send them back (send them back)

Clinton got run over by the Trump Train

During the Election of ‘16

You can say there’s no poetic justice

But as for me & voters, we believe

Inauguration is coming

Invitations are in the mail

But hotel rooms were all rented

By Clinton voters now all who want to bail

Here’s a warning to protestors

You can riot all you want

That’s why Trump got elected

Because idiots like you

Don’t want us to drain the swamp

Clinton got run over by the Trump Train

During the Election of ‘16

You can say there’s no poetic justice

But as for me & voters, we believe

(Repeat)

Merry Christmas

A Fun Christmas Parody –

HB2 in a Nutshell

HB2 in a nutshell:

Charlotte passes ordinance to allow people to use bathroom of choice rather than biology. NC Legislature blocks it with HB2.   There is a bit of over reach by both sides. But that’s the basics.

Governor McCrory offers to repeal HB2 if Charlotte will repeal their local ordinance that started it. Charlotte refuses at the encouragement of Roy Cooper who needs it as an election issue.

After the election, Charlotte repeals their ordinance. As promised, McCrory calls special session to repeal HB2.   But the GOP legislature needs Democrats to vote with them to repeal it as they don’t have enough votes. Easy right – as Democrats have been calling for repeal?

Publicly Gov. Elect Cooper claims to support repeal. But privately, has been accused of telling Democrat Senators to vote against it. Well, Democrats voted against it adding credibility to the claim that Cooper has been caught again playing for political gain.

The GOP called for the special session to repeal it AND were the only ones voting in favor of repeal with Democrats voting against it. But the media reports the GOP, the ones who called the session to repeal HB2 and the only ones voting in favor of repeal are the villains.

By The Numbers…

225,097            Number of people who have voted more at this point than 2012

2.2 million            Number voted in NC so far

84,001                        How many more GOP ballots have been cast than 2012

8,804                        How many fewer Dem ballots have been cast than 2012

43%                        Increase of Unaffiliated voters

…Start considering the word, “Landslide”.

Robeson Democratic Registration Enters Freefall

67% –  That’s the current percentage of registered Democratic Voters in Robeson County.robesongoplogo  The number is significant.

Democratic registration was 69% just months ago.  During the summer it has fallen 2%.  Typically, Democratic registration falls 1-2% per year.  It recently fell 2 percentage points in only a couple of months.

Unaffiliated Registration has grown to 20%.  Republican registration has grown to 12% and half of the 39 county Precincts have a Democratic registration less than 65%.  There are many precincts trending in the 50% range for Democratic registration as Democratic influence is disappearing in this once Democratic county.

Lumberton #1 has traditionally been the most Republican Precinct in the county.  Democratic registration is now only 53% there.  It is the largest precinct in the county.  Republicans enjoy 25% registration in Lumberton #1 and unaffiliated voters follow at 20%.  As Unaffiliated voters typically vote Republican and many Democratic voters are also very conservative and vote Republican – it is not surprising Lumberton #1 and half dozen other county precincts are more than competitive for Republicans.  Even Lumberton #6, which has long been considered the most Democratic precinct in the county is down to 84% Democratic registration.

There are reports that statewide between Oct. 2010 and Aug. 2016 – Democrats have registered 36,000 voters across North Carolina.  Republicans have registered 76,000.  Unaffiliated have registered 158,000.

During this same period of time statewide – Democrats have lost 99,342 while Republicans have gained 68,944 and unaffiliated have gained 480,944.

The Robeson County Board of Elections is located at 108 West Elizabethtown Road in Lumberton – behind the Post Office.  Residents are encouraged to register to vote.  Voters can also change their registration by stopping by the Board of Elections Office.

Unaffiliated registered voters can vote in Democratic primaries.

Cooper leading McCroy? The No Spin Analysis

bullshit-postOur crack team of analysts took a look at the known data for the recent poll showing Cooper pulling away from McCroy in the Governor’s race. It was a no spin look.

As evidence of our no spin approach, to be fair we are going to discount Republican operative complaints that the poll only sampled 400 voters in a state of 10 million. You can achieve a valid sample with a 95% confidence level and a 5-point interval with a sample size of 384. We did the math. But we will call B.S. on the rest (B.S. is a technical term).

First, they sampled “registered” voters rather than “likely” voters. While it sounds like we’re whining, this is an important mistake.   Only around 25-30% of registered voters vote. So a poll has greater validity if you are polling people who will actually vote.

But the biggest mistake in the poll was that it under polled Republicans between 6-8 points. Unless the pollsters model thinks Republican turnout in North Carolina is going to exceed Democrat turnout by that much – then that’s, well…incorrect. (See Link for the technical term).

Then there is the little detail that the CNN poll didn’t get the Governor’s name right on the poll calling him Richard Pat McCrory. That’s a minor but notable problem. It creates internal bias and is a systematic error that influences outcome.

Monmouth University and CNN have terrible track records for polling. They consistently err in favor of Democrats according to validated studies on historical track records – even by left leaning sources.

So we can conclude the race is still tight if you correct for these errors. Which means Burr is ahead and we may be seeing a Trump landslide coming our way if you can believe anything in this poll.  This poll has Trump and Clinton in a tight race. Factor in their errors and bias toward Democrats and Trump is forging ahead.

That’s the no spin look.spin

Robeson Special Election – By the Numbers…

BytheNumbers2% – Number of ballots cast in Robeson County during the recent special Congressional primary.

7% – Turnout statewide.

48.9% – Robeson Votes for Mark Harris who won Robeson County

28% – Robeson Votes for Todd Johnson who came in second in Robeson.

23% – Robeson Votes for Robert Pittenger who came in last in Robeson.

5 – Counties won by Johnson (Bladen, Scotland, Anson, Richmond, Union)

2 – Counties won by Harris (Robeson, Cumberland)

1 – Counties won by Pittenger (Mecklenburg)

There will be a recount in the local special Congressional Election as Pittenger edged over Harris by only 142 votes District wide out of 26,512 cast. This is less than ½ of a percent. If the recount holds then obviously Pittenger is our man who we will support in the November run against a liberal Democrat from Charlotte.

The stark truth is that the turnout was abysmal and the outcome may have been different if a single precinct in the rural areas had a turnout closer to a typical 15-20% level.

Local news media have described the scenario best stating that Pittenger’s largely affluent Charlotte area district was suddenly moved to rural areas east of Charlotte to include Robeson. Naturally, Mark Harris & Todd Johnson did well in these rural areas having connections here. That was the dynamic.

Pittenger’s challenge will be reaching out to the rural areas. This is important as a mid-term with higher turnout would prevent the affluent areas of Charlotte from being the primary influence of the election.   Again, the results may have been different in a mid-term.

Rural voters and operatives obviously scrutinize any winner from Charlotte closely as to how they reach out and treat those in the east.   They will also be scrutinized on how well they lose and how well they win.

So with this dynamic pitting the metropolitan areas of Charlotte against the rural regions east – uniting these two regions is the next challenge for whoever the definitive nominee becomes after the recount.

Congratulations to Congressman Pittenger & the other candidates.

Then the team’s next goal is a successful November election.
